What is a Typhoon?

Typhoons are a type of tropical cyclone that occurs in the northwest Pacific Ocean. It is comparable to hurricanes located in the Atlantic and Northeast Pacific. The typhoon is one of the most powerful natural disasters characterized by the center of low pressure, closed atmospheric circulation, and strong winds exceeding 74 mph (119 km/h).
02
Formation

Typhoons usually form on warm tropical seas when sea level temperatures are above 26.5 degrees Celsius (80 degrees Celsius). These conditions combine with good atmospheric patterns to help create the energy and environment necessary for typhoons to develop.
